Welcome to Starling Class!

 Year 2 & Year 1

Class Teachers: Mrs Gardiner (Monday-Thursday) Mrs Busby (Friday)

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Stone & Ms Murray

As last academic year you will be able to use the 'new sticky out tab' on our Class page to access our weekly timetable and the resources required for learning should you be isolating or awaiting results.

This page will be used for other activities, links and resources that are not necessarily timetabled weekly but that you may wish to try. You will find sections for Science, PSHE (to support wellbeing), Music, PE and Reading.

Reading Books will be changed every Monday and Thursday-please ensure books and reading records are sent in daily. Please read each book several times.

Less fluent readers should read the first time for decoding, second time for fluency and a third time for comprehension. This may be a sentence or a page at a time.

Our spelling tests will take place each Friday-please practise spellings and the rules which the children will be learning in our phonics sessions and ensure spelling books are sent in each week. The spelling list for each current week will be listed below incase your child is absent when they are given out or they are mislaid.

PE sessions will take place each Thursday-children will need to bring in their kit to change into on this day and then take home for washing the same day!

HOMEWORK

Homework will be daily reading of between 10/15 minutes, practice of weekly spellings, fantastic facts and MyMaths as set as well as optional maths and SPaG homelearning (see below).

We add weekly 'homelearning' maths and SPaG work to support the work being completed in class each week, these are intended for use as homework if you so wish or if you feel your child needs a little extra support with their maths work. (answers are usually supplied with the sheets for you to mark at home)

Please feel free however to access any of the learning on this page below if you would like to supplement homework with extra activities such as science, music or PE!

The children will be bringing home a Common Exception workbook to work through at their own pace this term. The same booklet is available to download on our home learning page.
